Matryoshka Dolls
Wood Matryoshka Doll
This was such a fun project! I have always loved Matryoshka
Dolls, but had never actually painted one. So I got myself a ten piece set and
went to work, and what a job! I have new respect for artists who do this
everyday. But, it was so much fun I want to create another set in the more
traditional shape. Here is the apple shape set of girls...

Fabric Matryoshka Dolls - soft and cuddly
These dolls were designed by me and each one is hand made with high quality
fabrics and stuffing with great attention to detail, like the hand embroidered
face and felt details.
This version of the Matryoshka doll is pillow
like and she can be easily carried or attached to a stroller by her little
ribbon 'tab'. All of her details are sewn on so she is safe for younger
children.

This little girl is holding a pretty flower.

And each doll has a braid detail on the back side.

This doll is holding a frosted cookie, but it can also
look like a chocolate chip cookie.

This doll is holding a pear, but any fruit can be
substituted, like the strawberry below.

This sleepy girl is holding her bear - any doll can be
made with a sleeping face.

And the girl holding the cupcake is perfect for a birthday
gift!

Fabric Matryoshka Dolls - free standing
This is a doll pattern I developed after the traditional wooden Matryoshka
dolls, or Russian Nesting Dolls. I have loved and collected them since I was a
child. These dolls are free standing and have more intricate details so they are
not suitable for young children.

Here is an example of how small a doll can be made. The doll pictured on
the left is also the tiny doll in the photo on the right. She is standing next
to a full size (8 inch) doll. So the dolls may not actually nest together like
wooden Russian nesting dolls, but they can be made in descending sizes.
