Calligraphy

Calligraphy is the art of beautiful handwriting that truly creates a feeling of elegance, be it for a wedding, birth announcement, corporate event, or any special occasion or project.

I am located in Southern Maryland, and I have done numerous works for clients across the country. I would be more than happy to work with you in creating an elegant look for your envelopes, menus, programs, seating charts, table numbers and seating cards, family trees, certificates and awards, and anything else you can imagine. Each piece is created by hand, giving it a uniqueness and warmth not found in computer generated fonts. I only use high quality metal nibs and dip pens and the best quality ink - no felt markers.

Suggestions

Please submit your ideas and expectations in writing (I’ll provide a form).

Type names and addresses for invitations, or project outline. If the information supplied is incorrect and corrections are required, it may result in additional cost. Names and addresses for invitations should be submitted as follows with everything spelled out and exactly as you would like them to appear on the inner and outer envelopes:

Choose a hard, smooth, high-quality paper for envelopes or projects to prevent ink from bleeding. If you wish, I can select paper for you for a small additional fee. Sorry, scrap booking paper from Michael's or other craft shops does not work.

Decide upon an ink color that compliments your invitation. I can offer a list of available colors on request.

Please purchase five (5) additional envelopes for every ten to thirty (10-30) ordered to allow for mistakes and additions.

Please give me, and yourself, plenty of time. I have never failed to deliver a project on time and can make special arrangements for rush orders.

Most languages and alphabets can be reproduced in calligraphy, including Hebrew.

I have clients all over the United States and can work with anyone via mail and internet.

Price List (for Italic script)

Envelopes 

Flush left - $1.30 per envelope
Staggered - $1.75 per envelope
Inner envelope - $0.70 each
Return address - $2.00 each
Lined envelopes add - $0.30 each               

Place Cards and Name Tags (one name) - $1.00 each

Certificates and Diplomas - $1.00 one name, and $0.75 each additional name

Pre-printed Invitations (filling in) - $3.50 each

Computer generated invitation - $45.00 minimum

Business Cards                    Text Only - $50.00 minimum
                                                Text and Art - $75.00 minimum

All prices are based on ‘basic italic’. Other type styles are available upon request, but may incur a higher fee.

Painting, drawing, and gilding (gold leaf) are available at an additional cost. These, and all other ‘special projects,’ are charged at $30.00 per hour plus materials. The time required for a special project will be discussed and agreed upon prior to beginning work. The fee may increase if changes are made after an agreement has been made. Examples of special projects are menus, books, poems, or your own ideas.

A deposit of one-half (50%) of all estimated total costs is due when the order is placed. The balance is expected upon delivery of the completed project.
